FAQs

Support workers play a key role in ensuring people receive the assistance they need over their lifetime and their work can make a significant difference to the quality of someone’s life. 

Both aged care and disability support workers can support people with daily personal care, transport, household tasks, community participation and support to implement nursing, personal care, speech therapy, psychology, physiotherapy and occupational therapy services.

As an independent support worker on Mable, you are an independent contractor and are-self employed. As such, you are not employed by Mable and are not entitled to sick leave. 

However, you have the flexibility to:

  • Set your rates in a way that compensates for any sick leave you may have to take
  • Build a ‘sick days bank’ to account for days you can’t work

Include mutually-agreed terms in your agreement with Mable clients to account for sick days.

Although you don’t need a formal qualification to become a support worker to provide Social Support & Domestic Assistance your clients would benefit from certain qualities and skills you can draw on. Skills like gardening, shopping and meal planning and cleaning can all be used to provide Social Support and Domestic Assistance.
