Find out moreThe “Online Provider” figures are based on the stated hourly cost to consumers and hourly pay rate (including superannuation) for support workers for weekday support, published by a Mable competitor online provider as at November 2021 (noting their workers are employees rather than independent contractors). The Mable figures are based on a median rate for social support workers of $40.50 per hour including deemed superannuation amounts. The amounts are illustrative only calculated from time sheets across different services over weekdays and weekends and do not take into account other factors, such as total hours of work available or training and experience. The “Disability Providers charging NDIS Price Limit” figures are based on the maximum hourly cost to consumers under the NDIS as at November 17 August 2021 (sourced from the NDIS Support Catalogue 2021-22), and assume the support worker is a casual employee earning the minimum award rate per hour (at or below Level 3, pay point 2). Arrangements between independent workers and people who require their services (including hourly rate and hours of work) facilitated through the Mable platform will be the subject of agreement between the relevant individuals, and the comparisons in this document do not reflect negotiated arrangements.

And as well as looking for support people who can attend to your medical, mobility or other therapeutic needs, you can search for those who offer companionship and social and personal care assistance. Each NDIS support person lists their hourly rates on their profile, making it easier for you to choose. And with Mable, you only pay 5% Mable fees on top of the hourly rate. That makes Mable a more affordable choice and you could receive more hours of support for what you’re currently paying elsewhere.
Look around and you’ll soon see how different Mable is. We even have an app so you can do everything you need to around your NDIS support person choices, bookings and payments wherever you are.
Frequently Asked Questions
Before booking a support worker, is the support worker willing to connect with you beforehand to learn more about yourself and your support requirements? Bringing a support worker into your life is a tremendous responsibility for the worker, and their willingness to get to know you is a show of respect. Depending on the area of support you are searching for, qualifications may be needed by the worker, which should be shared with you upon request. Personal qualities like reliability, honesty and flexibility are also important for workers to show you.
Mable’s platform gives you resources and support to help you choose support workers best suited to you. Posting a job on Mable means you can describe precisely what you are looking for from workers, while our platform also alerts nearby workers who match your criteria. We offer free messaging, phone and video calls through our secure platform, so you can get to know workers before choosing whether to book a trial session with them. Our Australian-based Client Support Team is also available with you for any questions you have throughout your journey with us.
Respect: Support workers should respect you as an equal, dedicated to providing you with respectful support to help you achieve your goals. Workers should show genuine respect for your feelings, culture and religion.
Reliability: Welcoming support workers into your life is a significant decision. Knowing these workers are reliable to be on time, prepared and focused on your support gives peace of mind.
Communication: From using Mable’s platform to send messages or make phone or video calls (link), through to in-person verbal and non-verbal language, communication is a crucial support worker quality in maximising the quality of support provided.
Patience: It takes time for a client and worker’s professional relationship to build. Things like getting stuck in traffic on the way to a community event, or taking a little extra time to eat a meal also require patience and understanding from support workers.
Flexibility: Clients search for workers who are flexible in providing support based on their schedule and lifestyle. Flexibility from workers while delivering support also means the ability to adapt if something happens before or during a session, for example if wet weather means a planned trip to the beach is no longer possible, the worker is flexible to shift to a suitable indoor activity session.
