All new Mable support workers must have a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check, no matter the service they provide. Existing support workers will also require one when their police check expires.

It’s needed on Mable for Aged Care too: even if you don’t intend to work with NDIS participants, the NDIS Worker Screening Check is recognised in aged care, and you’ll still need to have one to work in aged care on Mable.
It has different names and processes in each state and territory: the check’s name, steps, and costs vary depending on where you live.
It’s valid across Australia: even with local differences, the check is a national tool and is valid for 5 years everywhere in Australia.

If you are offering services in Tasmania or the ACT, you must submit a Working With Vulnerable People check. This check is in place of a Working with Children Check but must be submitted regardless of whether or not you will work with children.

Allied Health

If you want to offer physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or psychological services on Mable, you must have a current registration with AHPRA that has been active for a minimum of 12 months. You must also provide two professional or character references.

To provide speech pathology services on Mable, you must be registered with Speech Pathology Australia and provide two professional or character references.

Working with Children Check – cost from $80

If you want to offer services via the Mable platform and intend to work with children, you must submit a valid Working With Children Check number (or equivalent in their state) for verification.

In states and territories where cards are provided, you must carry the card with you when providing your services.

A current and valid Australian driver’s licence must be submitted to Mable to provide this service. Provisional licenses are acceptable (however, support workers who hold a provisional licence are still responsible for ensuring they comply with restricted licence conditions when transporting clients).

Insurance

Mable’s suite of insurances does not cover you for injury to someone while you are driving, for damage to your vehicle, or for damage to someone else’s vehicle. You are solely responsible for taking out insurances to cover these risks, including Compulsory Third Party, and vehicle insurance.
