How to find the right worker on the Mable platform

With over 1,900 available support workers on the Mable platform, we’re proud to say that we are Australia’s largest and most diverse online community of workers.

But with all that choice, it’s important that you select a support worker you’re compatible with and someone who matches all of your requirements. Here are some tips that will help you find the right match on Mable:

Know the level of care or support you need
Support workers on the Mable platform offer a range of services including;

  • Social support
  • Domestic assistance
  • Nursing services
  • Personal Care

When searching for support workers make sure you select the level of support you require so you can narrow down your results to only those with the correct qualifications and experience.

Advanced search

If you have specific requirements, you can search for support using our advanced search feature. For example, if you’re looking for a support worker who has a working with children’s check (WWCC), our advanced search feature saves time and allows you to search for available support workers with a WWCC.

In an industry first, you can also filter your search results based on support worker availability, personality, interests, qualifications and more. Looking for someone who shares your love of animals? With Mable, you can find them.

Familiarise yourself with how support workers are ranked in search results

The Mable platform makes life easier for clients when searching for support workers by providing a ranking system that puts the best matches at the top of search results.

Get to know your support worker by reading their profile in detail

It’s worth taking the time to carefully read through prospective support workers’ profiles before you contact them. There, you’ll find their customer feedback, their employment history, list of qualifications, their interests, hobbies and biography. Bios allow our community of care and support workers to provide a more detailed description about themselves and about their motivations to provide support to others. If you take the time to carefully read through support workers profiles, you have a greater chance of finding someone who suits you and your situation perfectly.

Meet and greet with the support worker before hiring them

Most support workers choose to offer their first hour free (this is indicated on their profile). You can use this hour to meet with the support worker and to see if they are suitable. If the support worker does not offer the first hour free, you can message the support worker directly to ask if they’re interested in meeting at a local cafe for an interview.

Compare rates of other local workers

Support workers on the Mable platform set their own rates. Those with more experience, or who offer specialist services, such as nursing, or medication assistance, can charge more than those who might be offering domestic or social assistance. You can discuss the rate directly with the worker and agree on something that works for you both.

Be flexible with timings and rates, if possible

In order to attract the best support workers, be flexible when negotiating hours and rates. For example, if you require a care or support worker for an hour in the afternoon, you could offer to pay the worker more than their hourly fee or book the worker for more hours. If you do this, there is a higher chance the worker will accept your session request.

Message and hire more than one worker

If you hire two or more support workers, you can rotate shifts between them. Having multiple support workers can also be helpful if one of your workers is sick and cannot make a shift. Many support workers on the Mable platform have a ‘buddy’ system, whereby they make arrangements with other support workers on the platform to cover each other’s shifts in the case of an illness. Consider asking whether your support worker has a similar arrangement if you require a high number of hours each week.

If you’re time bound, try ‘posting a job’

We suggest ‘posting a job’ if you’re time-bound, this feature allows you to post a message to all care workers that have matched your search criteria. To do this, click here.
