What is post-operative care at home?
Post-operative care is a type of home care service that helps people recover after they’ve returned home following surgery.
What does post-operative care include?
A range of post-operative care options can be found on Mable to help you regain your health and independence.
This includes:
- Personal care assistance*
- Medication management*
- Wound care*
- Meal preparation
- Household assistance
- Companionship and emotional support
- Physical therapy*
* Qualifications are required to provide this support on Mable.
Who is post-surgery support for?
Post-surgery support is for anyone recovering from a surgical procedure, but can be helpful for a range of people.
This includes:
- People who have had surgery: often require assistance with wound care, meal preparation, and daily tasks as they heal.
- Older people: may need extra support due to longer healing times, or pre-existing health conditions, making post-operative recovery more challenging.
- Family members: often take on the role of caregivers, but may need respite or assistance to avoid burnout. Juggling work and caring for a loved one recovering from surgery can be difficult.
What post-surgery home care can support workers on Mable provide?
The post-surgery assistance a support worker can provide depends on their qualifications. We verify every support worker on our platform and, if required, their qualifications.
Some post-surgery support does not require a support worker to have qualifications, such as food preparation and companionship. However, support workers on Mable who provide other services, such as medication management, wound care, and manual handling, must provide evidence of their qualifications.
