Frequently Asked Questions

Mable is a website where people who require in-home or community care can search for and connect directly with nurses, care and support workers in their area.

Whether you’re looking for round-the-clock care, overnight respite, daily assistance, or just weekly drop-ins, on Mable, you can find the highest quality workers fast and easily.

Care and support workers can create their own profile on Mable that outlines their experience, qualifications, availability, hourly rates and interests. You can then easily search, compare and choose the right care worker for you.

Mable does not provide the care, and we do not employ the workers on our platform. We offer a new model in community and home care that allows you to choose and directly hire the people who will be coming into your home to provide care and support.

By hiring directly, you can afford more hours of care, while care workers have the potential to earn more, and you can both benefit by building long-term relationships.

Signing up to Mable is free for both workers and clients. Care workers on the platform can set their own hourly rates, which are displayed on their profile. You can discuss and agree the rate and schedule with each individual care worker before engaging them.

Mable charges clients an additional 5% as a service fee, and deducts a 10% care worker service fee on the payment received by care workers.

No fees are charged until a client hires a care worker and the services are delivered. All payments are made online and can be easily tracked via your timesheet and reports on your dashboard.

Safety of those in our community is our priority. All care workers using the Mable platform undergo a strict on-boarding process, including reference and qualification checks, police checks and verification of any specific requirements for nurses and those providing personal care.

All of the workers on the Mable platform have comprehensive insurances arranged on their behalf.

Workers on our platform will list their services on their profile. These can include:

Nursing Services such as wound care, diabetes care, catheter care, medication management, continence management, bowel and bladder management or case management. Personal Care such as showering, dressing, toileting and grooming, manual transfer, assistance with medication, dementia, palliative and disability care as well as care assessment, planning and coordination. Social Support and Domestic Assistance such as companionship, social outings, shopping assistance and transport, meal preparation, cleaning and laundry, light housework, gardening or basic home maintenance. Yes. Many types of government funding (including Consumer Directed Care packages and the NDIS) now allow you to select a particular individual or service provider to deliver your support.

In fact, lower administration costs means that your government funding can often go a lot further when you hire care and support workers directly via the Mable platform.

The provider or agency managing your funds will have a responsibility to make sure any care worker you select has a current police check, is suitably qualified and experienced, has insurance and an ABN. Your provider can verify this on the Mable platform.

For answers to common questions about government funding see the following articles in our Help Centre or contact us to discuss your specific circumstances.

Mable collects payments from you on behalf of your care or support workers.

Credit/Debit Card: This is the most common method of payment and can be set up online. After you approve a care worker’s timesheets, the cost of the care plus the 5% Mable client service fee will be charged to your nominated credit card.

Direct Debit from a Bank Account: Payment can be direct debited from a nominated account after the care worker’s timesheet is approved. A completed direct debit authority form will need to be uploaded to your account and then verified. The form can be downloaded in the Payment Details section of your profile.

The following payment options can be set up by calling 1300 73 65 73:

Invoice: Service providers, and in some cases individuals who are self-managing or plan-managing government funding, have the option to pay by invoice. The platform generates invoices in the name of the care worker, with their ABN.

Yes! If you already know a care or support worker that you would like to hire, you can ask them to sign up to Mable.

They will need to go through our regular on-boarding process, and once they have been approved you can hire them through the platform. If you give us a call on 1300 73 65 73, we can prioritise their registration.

Yes, recent Government reforms in aged care (home care packages and consumer directed care) and disability support (the NDIS) are intended to put consumers at the centre of the market, empowered with choice and control and individualised government funding. While provider organisations may hold and administer an individual’s funding, it is on the basis that they respond to, support and facilitate individual consumer choice in relation to both services and who provides those services.

Mable is one avenue for consumers with home care packages or disability funding to find and choose care and support workers who meet their individual requirements. Providers can support their clients in this process via an organisational login. For more information, or to request an organisation login, call 1300 73 65 73 or see our organisations page.

Go to the care worker page to sign up for free and start completing your Mable profile.

To be ‘live’ on our platform you will need to complete our registration process and provide us with a current police check, references, and necessary qualifications. Once this is done, a member of our Care Worker Support Team will give you a call to finalise your Mable profile.

Our fees enable us to continue to grow the Mable community and deliver innovative technology and solutions for the benefit of clients and care workers using our platform. We have made every effort to ensure our fees are reasonable for the services we offer.

Scheduling care and making payment through the Mable platform ensures there is a transparent record of all care delivered and payments made. Importantly, care workers are not covered by the insurance policies arranged on their behalf by Mable for care delivered outside the Mable platform. If a care worker or client arranges payment outside the platform their account may be deactivated and they could face penalties. For further details see our Terms of Use.

For the safety of everyone in the community, we encourage you to get in touch if anyone asks you to arrange payment outside of the system.
