How much do I get paid?

As an independent worker, you can set your own hourly rates and agree to these with each client. The hourly rate you can charge may be determined by several factors, such as:

  • Your experience and qualifications
  • The quality of care you provide as reflected in your profile feedback
  • The type of services you offer
  • The level of demand in the areas you work for your services and skills
  • The time of day, as demand may vary
  • The length of visit and travel time involved

Mable is committed to supporting care workers in our community. You cannot enter or agree to an hourly rate of less than $23.5 per hour. When setting 24-hour, overnight or flat rates you will need to take into consideration all of these factors as well as how many hours will be spent passively (for example, sleeping or any time you are not actively providing services to your client). The hourly rate for these types of shifts could be less than $24 depending on your particular situation. Whatever rate you choose, please ensure you are comfortable and happy that you are being paid adequately.
Mable collects payment from clients on behalf of care workers for care delivered each week. We then deduct the 10% care worker service fee, and pay the money weekly to each care worker’s nominated bank account.

If there are instances where clients would like to engage a care worker in an employment relationship, we work with them individually to make the necessary arrangements including awards, tax and super. Please feel free to give us a call on 1300 73 65 73 if you would like to discuss this further with us.
