Helpful tips when applying for an ABN

As part of signing up to Mable as an independent support worker, you must provide an Australian Business Number (ABN).

You can apply for an ABN for free through the Australian Business Register.

When applying for an ABN, you will be asked a series of questions.

As a tip, you can check the “Are you doing things that are consistent with running a business?” box Yes, because by registering with mable.com.au and building a profile, you have:
1) “Advertised your business” and
2) “Registered with an Organisation” to provide services

If you say no, you will be sent to the following screen

Further information is available on the ruling on your entitlement to an ABN from the Australian Taxation Office, particularly clause(s) 120 to 148 dealing with “When is an enterprise being carried on?”
