Whether it’s attending appointments, connecting with peers, exploring new places like Sea Life in Mooloolaba, or taking trips to the Gold Coast, Luke’s independent support workers have become an essential part of his routine. The freedom to schedule multiple support workers with varied availability ensures that Luke always has the help he needs.
“The support team helps you get out in the community and do what you want… when someone’s sick, you’ve got someone else to rely on,” Luke shared.
This flexibility has given him a sense of control over his life, allowing him to pursue activities and goals that matter to him without feeling restricted.

“You need to choose the right one for you,” he explains, stressing the importance of not just picking the first person who is available. Luke advises meeting a few different support workers before making a decision, ensuring you find someone whose personality and approach align with your needs.
