At Mable, your safety is our top priority. Whether you’re a client seeking support or a support worker offering your services, staying alert online can help you protect your personal information and avoid falling victim to scams.
Here’s how you can stay safe on the Mable platform
Staying safe on Mable
Keep communications on Mable
Our in-app messaging and call features provide security and help to protect both clients and support workers. When messaging or making calls on the Mable app, your phone number is not shared with the other party. Please keep in mind that your phone number will be shared with the other party once you have entered into an agreement with them.
Avoid sharing personal contact details such as phone numbers or email addresses until you have established trust.
Never share your Mable account information
Your Mable account holds your personal details, so it’s important to keep it secure. Do not share your login details, such as your email address or password, with anyone—even people you trust. Sharing account information puts your personal details, payment information, and private messages at risk.
If you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else or notice any suspicious activity, reset your password immediately and contact our Trust and Safety team.
Use Mable’s payment system
For your safety, all payments must be processed through Mable. This way, your payment is processed by our team and there is a clear record of transactions for both parties. Beware of anyone asking for cash payments or alternative methods of transfer.
Report suspicious activity
If you notice any unusual behaviour, such as someone asking for personal details, or your banking details, or offering unrealistic pay rates, report it immediately.
Recognising and avoiding scams
Phone scams
Scammers may pose as representatives of Mable or other trusted organisations. Keep the following in mind:
- Mable will never ask for your password or payment details over the phone, via call or text.
- If you receive an unexpected call and you’re concerned, hang up and contact our official support line to verify the request.
Email scams
Phishing emails are designed to look legitimate but may contain harmful links or ask for sensitive information.
Here’s how to identify them:
Check the sender’s email address: Emails from Mable will always come from an official Mable address. These are:
@mable.com.au
@m.mable.com.au
@t.mable.com.auPlease note that email addresses can be spoofed and are not always reliable. However, if you follow this list of tips you can usually identify if the email is legitimate.
Look for red flags: Watch out for generic greetings like “Dear Sir/Madam”, spelling mistakes, or urgent requests to click on a link or provide sensitive or personal information.
Are there suspicious attachments? If the email asks you to open a strange attachment or the attachment seems suspicious, delete the email and report it to our team.
Check who it was sent to: You should be the only visible recipient, so check if you were cc’d on an email sent to one or more people.
Double-check links: Hover your mouse (or long press if you are on a phone) over any hyperlinks displayed in the email to check if the link address is for a different website. Also, consider if the sender is asking you to click on a link or open an attachment to avoid negative consequences or to gain something of value.
Look at the subject line: If the subject line of the email doesn’t match its contents, it could be a red flag.
Too-good-to-be-true offers
Scammers may promise enticing benefits in exchange for upfront payments or personal information. Remember: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
