What is an NDIS Worker Screening Check?
The NDIS Worker Screening Check is valid for five years, and despite its name, is a standardised national assessment for workers who work with people with a disability or older Australians.
This check is a highly recognised qualification in the Australian care industry; it is transferable and is widely accepted by most care providers and businesses.
You can apply for the check if you’re being employed to provide NDIS support or services. When searching for a support worker on Mable, clients can filter the results so they only include support workers with a completed screening check.
While you have to apply for an NDIS Worker Screening Check in the state or territory where you live, it is recognised nationally.
Do I need an NDIS Worker Screening Check?
From July 2025, the NDIS Worker Screening Check will replace police checks as a mandatory requirement for new support workers signing up to Mable.
If you are an existing support worker on the platform, this change does not immediately affect you—you can continue to use the platform as usual.
However, from July 2025, once your current police check expires, you will be required to have an NDIS Worker Screening Check.
We will send you a reminder when your police check is expiring so you can plan ahead. If you already have an NDIS Worker Screening Check, you can add it to your Mable profile at any time.
How to apply for an NDIS Worker Screening Check
NDIS Worker Screening Checks are conducted by the Worker Screening Unit in each respective state or territory.
You must apply for your check with the Worker Screening Unit in the state or territory where you intend to work.
Please visit the NDIS Commission website, select your state or territory and follow the steps to start your application. Each state and territory has its own process.
Fees are set by each local agency.
Please note that application processing timeframes vary state by state. Some applications are processed quickly, and some can take up to 5 weeks.

How to link Mable to your NDIS Worker Screening Check
You link Mable to your NDIS Worker Screening Check by listing Mable as your employer/provider in your state or territory’s NDIS Worker Screening portal. Although you are an independent support worker and therefore self-employed, you can list Mable Technologies as your employer/provider for the purpose of the screening check only. To do this you will need the details below.

Once you have linked to Mable in the portal, go and log in to your Mable account (on desktop) and follow these steps:
- Select Edit profile from the top of the left-hand menu
- Select NDIS Worker Screening under Additional Details
- Select Yes beneath the question Are you planning to apply for a new check or link your existing check to Mable?
- Save your answer.
After you’ve completed these steps, you don’t have to do anything else. Our team will verify your NDIS Worker Screening Check, after which it will appear on your Mable profile.
Please allow the team up to three business days to verify your screening request after applying.
What if I have an existing NDIS Worker Screening Check?
If you have an existing NDIS Worker Screening Check you can link it to Mable Technologies.
Log in to your state’s screening unit portal and enter Mable’s employer/provider details:
