A guide to checking in and out of sessions

Mable’s Check In and Check Out feature allows you to start and finish a support session straight from the Mable app on your phone.

As soon as you check out of a session, your support hours will be pre-filled with the hours worked.

How to check in and check out of a session

To use the Check In and Check Out feature, you must have the Mable app.

You will need to plan your sessions in advance, which will trigger notifications on your phone or tablet’s home screen. These will prompt you to check in and check out of each session at the right time.

To check in and out of a session, you can tap the notifications on your home screen and follow the prompts.

Alternatively, to check in you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the Mable app
  2. Select the relevant session from the Home tab
  3. Select Check in (if you are checking in at a later time, select Check in at a different time and fill in the time the session started)
  4. Select Done

To check out of a session, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Mable app
  2. Select the relevant session from the Home tab
  3. Select Check out 
  4. The start and finish times for the session will be listed at the top of the screen, edit them if necessary
  5. Select Add notes and fill in the necessary fields, or if you want to do this later, select Submit notes later
  6. Select Done

How to submit your support hours

Your can submit your support hours once you have checked out of a session and completed your support notes. 

If you check out and submit your notes straight away, then there is nothing else for you to do, your hours have been submitted and your payment process is underway.

If you choose to Submit notes later, then you must return to the session and add your notes before you can submit your support hours and kick-start your payment process. 

To do this, follow the steps below: 

  1. Open your mobile app and select the relevant session from your Home tab
  2. The start and finish times for the session will be listed at the top of the screen – edit them if necessary
  3. Select Add notes
  4. Fill in or edit the fields for the Rates, Support notes and Incidents (if relevant) tabs
  5. Select Submit
  6. Select Done

Once you complete these steps, your support hours have been submitted, and your payment process is underway.

You can edit your delivered support hours after they’ve been submitted, but not once they have been invoiced. If you need to make changes to support hours after they have been invoiced, please contact support

To edit your delivered support hours after submitting your support hours, follow the steps below.

Browser instructions:

  1. Select Support hours
  2. Select the 3 horizontal dots beside the relevant session
  3. Select Edit 
  4. Make the changes
  5. Select Update
  6. Select OK, got it

Mobile app instructions:

  1. Select More
  2. Select Support hours
  3. Select the 3 horizontal dots beside the relevant session
  4. Select Edit
  5. Make the changes
  6. Select Update
  7. Select OK

Opting out of Check-in and Check-out

You don’t have to use the Check-in and Check-out feature.

If you don’t want to use the feature, you can choose to submit your hours as you normally would.

If you don’t want to receive Check-in and Check-out notifications, you can turn off notifications for the Mable app. Please note this will turn off all notifications from the app – not just the ones for Check-in and Check-out.

Location services

If you want to use the Check-in and Check-out feature, you need to have location tracking turned on.

Mable does not continuously track your location throughout the course of the support session. We can only see your location at the point you check in and check out.

You can choose only to allow location tracking whilst using the app, which can be set up or adjusted in your phone or tablet’s settings.

You can do this by following the steps below.

For iOS devices (Apple)

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Scroll down and select Apps
  3. Select Mable
  4. Select Location
  5. Select While using the App

For Android devices (Samsung)

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Scroll down and select Location
  3. Select App permissions
  4. Select Mable
  5. Select Allow only while using the App

For Android devices (Google)

  1. Open Settings
  2. Select See all apps
  3. Select Mable
  4. Select Permissions
  5. Select Location
  6. Select Allow only while using the App
