We've introduced some helpful updates to the Mable platform to improve how you view and manage job applications from independent support workers.

These changes are designed to make it simpler for you to find the right support faster, with the most useful information up front.

Top applicants: View top applications first

Now, when independent support workers apply to your job post, their applications will be automatically sorted, and the ones that best match your needs will appear first.

Here's how it works

We review the details you provide in your job post, like the type of support you need, your location, preferred days and times, and any other preferences, and compare them with each applicant's profile. This includes their skills, qualifications, availability, and experience.

We also consider how workers have engaged on the Mable platform in the past. For example, the types of jobs they've completed, their responsiveness, and reliability.

Using this information, we put the most suitable applicants at the top of the list. This makes it quicker and easier to find someone who meets your needs.

You'll still be able to view every application that comes through. Nothing's hidden, just better sorted to save you time and help you get the right support faster.

Book a meet and greet directly from job applications

We've also simplified the process of booking a meet and greet with a support worker you're interested in. You can now invite them to a meet and greet directly from their application without needing to exchange messages first.

This means fewer steps, less back-and-forth, and a faster way to find out if someone’s the right fit for you.

When you click Start conversation from the support worker's application, you'll now have two options: Send a message and Invite to a meet and greet.

If the support worker has meet and greets turned on, both options will be available. If not, the meet and greet option will be unavailable, but you can still message them to ask if they're open to one.

To make things even easier, there's also a list of popular time suggestions when booking your meet and greet. If those times don't suit, click Choose a custom time to pick one that works for you.

More helpful features for a smoother review process

We've added a few other new features to application results to make reviewing and comparing applicants even easier.

  • Availability and indicative rates are now easier to find at a glance.
  • You can now view the support worker's drive distance from you, so you know how far away they are.
  • We've added total hours worked on Mable to help you understand how active and experienced a support worker is.
  • New status labels like 'New application', 'Conversation started', and 'Profile viewed' make it easier to track where an application is at.
  • The Manage Workers page now shows only five applications per page (instead of 20) to help you focus and make confident decisions.

Preventing everyday harm in support work
As a support worker, you want your clients to feel safe, respected and supported. You may already think carefully about how to provide safe support and prevent serious incidents. But harm is not always obvious. Sometimes, small everyday actions, words or assumptions can affect a client in ways you may not have intended or noticed at the time. This is sometimes referred to as everyday harm. Over time, these small moments can build up and may affect how respected, heard, in control or safe your client feels. The newly launched Everyday Harm website brings together practical resources to help support workers and organisations build safer, more respectful support relationships. These resources were developed through Australian Research Council studies, including interviews with people with disability about their experiences. Mable was proud to be involved in this project as an Industry and Community Partner organisation. We hope these resources help you better understand everyday harm
