Create the right home for you

The NDIS Home and Living journey can be overwhelming, whether you’re an individual, family member, support coordinator, or occupational therapist. That’s why we created the Home and Living consultancy service.

How the service works

Led by individuals with lived experience, our team will work with you to:
  • Define your ideal home
  • Share the possibilities in an easy-to-understand way
  • Ensure you have the proper safeguards in place
  • Bring together the people and resources you need to achieve your home

How can you access our services?

Just like your needs, our home and living services are unique to you. To begin, we’ll take the time to understand your situation and what you’re looking to achieve. From there, we’ll quote for the support you need.

If you’re an NDIS participant with a self-managed or plan-managed plan, you can use your Core or Capacity Building funding to access this service.

The complexity of arranging housemates felt overwhelming, heightened by fears of my son facing rejection. The structured guidance made the process easier, mapping out areas needing attention. Now, I'm more hopeful about my son sharing his home with a housemate.

FAQs

SIL, ILO and SDA are all acronyms the NDIS uses to describe the different types of funding available.

  • SIL stands for Supported Independent Living.
  • ILO stands for Individualised Living Options.
  • SDA stands for Specialist Disability Accommodation.

SIL and ILO are all about the support you need to live well in your home. SDA is about funding for a purpose-built home.

There may be other parts of your NDIS Plan that you can use for home and living support. When you work with us, we help you figure out the right pathway.

No, you don’t need to use Mable to access the Home and Living Consultancy service.

Our goal is to help you build the right team to achieve success. This may involve Mable support workers, but only if they are the right fit for you.

No, we are not support coordinators.

Our services are designed to work with your team, so you don’t have to choose between one or the other.

Your support coordinator is welcome to talk to us about our services.

Yes, you can. Our services are designed to work with your team, so you don't have to choose between one or the other.

Yes, you can.

Don't let the lack of a support coordinator stop you from pursuing your independent living goals. We designed our services to help people achieve their home and living goals regardless of whether or not they have a support coordinator.

We can help you explore what support you need to stay in your home while retaining a high level of safety and wellbeing.

We can work with you to decide on what support you need.

Support can include:

  • Assistance in learning a new skill
  • Technology
  • Changes to your home
  • Supportive relationships that are different to a support worker.

Learn more about how to describe your support needs.

Unfortunately, our Home and Living consultancy service does not include support in searching for and applying for housing. We can review your plan with you to:

  • Find out how you could be using your funding to assist with searching for housing.
  • Connect with the people you need to search and apply for housing.

You can book an independent support worker through Mable to help you search for housing.

Support workers can assist with:

  • Searching for housing using real estate websites
  • Transport you to open homes
  • Fill out rental application forms.
