The complexity of arranging housemates felt overwhelming, heightened by fears of my son facing rejection. The structured guidance made the process easier, mapping out areas needing attention. Now, I'm more hopeful about my son sharing his home with a housemate.

FAQs

If you have a self- or plan-managed NDIS plan you can pay for this Consultancy service from Core or Capacity Building budgets. We’ll talk with you about the line items relevant for you.

SIL, ILO and SDA are all acronyms the NDIS uses to describe the different types of funding available.

  • SIL stands for Supported Independent Living
  • ILO stands for Individualised Living Options
  • SDA stands for Specialist Disability Accommodation.

SIL and ILO are all about the support to live well in your home. SDA is about the funding for a purpose built home. Your Core budget may also be helpful. We can help with the right pathway for you. Learn more about these funding options.

Our services are suited to those making a planned change to their living situation.

No. You don’t need to use Mable to access our Home and Living Consultants.

Our goal is to help you build the right team to achieve success. As we work together, this may involve Mable support workers, but only if they are the right fit for you.

No, we are not Support Coordinators. Our services are designed to work with your team so you don’t have to choose between one or the other. We explore a range of options and recommend a personalised plan that aligns with your goal. Once you have decided on a solution, we help you bring together what is needed for the NDIA submission. Your Support Coordinator is welcome to talk to us about our services.

We can help you explore what it takes to support you well and safely in your home. We work with you on what kind of support you need and how much is needed. Then we can work together on how that support can be provided. These might be things like learning new skills, technology, features in your home and other kinds of supportive relationships that are different to a support worker.
