What's Next for the NDIS Mandatory Registration reforms?
The NDIS Commission has now made it possible for Mable to register specifically under the new class 0137 - NDIS digital platforms.
NDIS digital platforms must comply with any new conditions of their registration by 1 January 2027. This change is part of broader reforms to strengthen quality, safety and oversight across the disability sector.
These changes give our business partners confidence. Confidence that you can be sure Business Solutions by Mable is a critical part of a sustainable NDIS.
We welcome these reforms because they recognise our high-quality and safeguarding standards. We have always prioritised these areas. That being said, we are actively adapting our systems to the proposed new requirements to ensure that Mable remains a useful tool to support your business needs, during and after regulatory changes.
How are we managing the registration process?
Mable plans to apply for registration as an NDIS digital platform. We will submit our application when the new category becomes available, and before the 1 October 2026 deadline.
To secure our registration, we will undergo an independent audit against the Core Module, based on four primary domains:
- Rights and Responsibilities: Ensures participants' rights are respected, including freedom from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, as well as promoting choice, control, and privacy.
- Governance and Operational Management: Requires digital platforms to have systems in place for risk management, quality management, incident management, and feedback/complaints handling.
- Provision of Supports: Mandates that digital platforms uphold safe delivery of services, conduct worker screenings, and maintain appropriate record-keeping and participant service agreements.
- Provision of Supports Environment: Focuses on maintaining safe, accessible environments for service delivery, though specific conditions apply depending on the platform's service model.
We believe we are well prepared for this audit, as many of the Core Module's requirements are already part of our current operations.
Why we welcome mandatory registration
We believe these proposed changes help facilitate safer services for people with disability. Which is exactly what Mable is all about.
The NDIS will require digital platforms to implement consistent measures, such as verifying and displaying support worker credentials. We already verify qualifications in accordance with our Verification Policy and display key credentials related to support work on profiles, so we see this as an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to high-quality support for participants.
What this means for your business
Business as usual
Our business model is not changing.
Business Solutions by Mable is here for you. We will continue helping you access a flexible, Australia-wide network of Independent Support Workers to meet your participants' needs.
How you use Mable should not change
We are implementing behind-the-scenes updates as the government finalises requirements. We don't expect these changes to materially affect your platform experience at this stage.
Finding, engaging and managing Independent Support Workers using the Mable platform will continue as normal.
A trusted solution for your workforce
We know you depend on Mable to deliver quality support. That is why we are committed to meeting compliance targets while maintaining the flexibility and simplicity you value.
We're already doing many of the things expected under the new framework
We have actively engaged with the NDIS Commission throughout the reform process. Based on the current information available, we expect many of our existing practices to meet or exceed formal requirements.
Qualifications and credentials
We have always required every support worker to provide a valid Police Check or NDIS Worker Screening Check, including proof of identity. We take steps to verify their qualifications and certifications before displaying their credentials on Mable, which shows our partners how the support worker's skills and experience relate to the services they offer.
In August 2025, to align with new industry standards, we transitioned to requiring a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check for all new support workers. By 31 December 2026, everyone supporting an NDIS-funded participant on Mable will be required to have passed this check.
As we move into the new registration requirements, we expect to soon require support workers to complete training aligned with the Core Module. These are likely to include having a First Aid Certificate for certain service types and ensuring people have completed the NDIS Worker Screening Orientation. We are also looking at setting up personalised training pathways for every support worker.
Robust safeguards
Safety has always been foundational to the Mable model. We maintain rigorous safeguards, such as monitoring shift notes and job posts. We provide easy ways for people to report any incidents or complaints to us. Our Customer Safeguarding team investigates each of these to support quality outcomes.
Commitment to compliance
We will adapt our processes as the Commission clarifies requirements. Our goal is full compliance with the new framework.
However, on our provider's dashboard, you already have full access to support notes and incidents, can approve sessions, and can download reports you may need for audits or reporting.
Looking ahead
We welcome the proposed mandatory registration to strengthen confidence in the NDIS, not just for the people who rely on it, but also for every Australian to understand the incredible impact it is having on the lives of thousands of people with disability.
For our business partners, it means you can continue working with Mable knowing that quality, safety and compliance remain priorities, while still benefiting from the flexibility and access to support workers on our platform that make Business Solutions by Mable a trusted partner.
As further details become available, we'll continue to share updates and ensure your experience with Mable remains seamless.
