Make a great online impression and build your business

So, you’ve registered on the Mable platform and now you’re waiting for the call. But how can you pro-actively build your business? The team has put together some great tips for building your client base both online and offline. Here’s a refresh of what to do online.

Be seen on screen

Depending on where you’re based, your client could be scrolling through lots of potential workers, so make sure your profile stands out. The faster a client can get to know you, the better. Write a concise bio and make the most of those 150-200 words. Get someone who knows you well to check your profile for any typos and suggest things you might have missed. You can only upload one profile photo but make it count.

Be seen on social

A number of Mable workers have read our blog and created their own Facebook pages. Doing this really establishes you as an independent worker and business in your own right. How do you keep your page fresh with updates and posts? You are welcome to share any social media content posted by Mable on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. You can also follow and share posts from organisations you support or are affiliated with.

Once you’ve registered, join our Facebook Community of Care and Support Workers. It’s great for sharing tips and experiences with other workers. You can also find people with whom you can ‘buddy’ to support clients when either of you isn’t available.

A LinkedIn profile offers an additional opportunity to communicate that you are on the Mable platform. Make sure you include a link to your Mable profile when you’re setting up. You can connect with people in the sector, showcase your professional experience, and share relevant articles and insights.

Be timely and professional

You may be having a busy week with a day job or other clients. That’s great! But make sure you always get back promptly to clients even if you don’t have the capacity to help them. First impressions count and this client won’t reach out again if you’ve not demonstrated good customer service. Here are tips for responding to potential clients.

Spend some time on our site

If you have a question about running or boosting your business, it’s likely you’ll find the answer somewhere on our site, which is packed with tools and resources for clients, care workers and coordinators.  For example, while you’re refining your online profile and presence, you can start getting out and about with personalised business cards and flyers. Here’s how to download them from your account.

Have a look at our FAQs and Help Centre pages to start, and contact us if you haven’t found what you need.
