So, you’ve taken the first steps towards becoming an independent support worker on the Mable platform.
From talking with our independent support worker community, we’ve learned a lot about why some hesitated before finalising their profile. For some, it was that they were juggling commitments and weren’t yet ready while for others, the thought of going into business for themselves was quite daunting. Now that they are fully-fledged small business owners with great support from Mable, many have said that they wish they’d done it sooner. Here are four simple steps to getting started as an independent support worker on the Mable platform.
No. 1 Learn about Mable
Mable provides a safeguarded platform with all the help you could need, including connecting you with potential clients, and lots of support every step of the way, such as the insurance that Mable arranges on behalf of all independent support workers. More than 10,000 Australians have built their own business as independent support workers within the aged care and disability support sectors using the Mable platform.
At any time, if you need help or have any questions, we’re only a phone call or email away.
No. 2 Get your account finalised
Before you can take on clients and be paid for your work, you must be approved to provide services through the platform.
If you have not received notification that your profile has been approved, log in and see what’s still outstanding. It may be that you haven’t filled out your ‘About’ section, uploaded a photo, provided references or a Police Check, or added your availability and rates. Once all of these elements are completed, your profile can be considered for approval, after which you can start accepting clients.
No. 3 Ensure your profile is set up for success
Your support worker profile is effectively your ‘shopfront’. Clients search the profiles to find independent support workers who meet their requirements but they’re not just looking for specific services. They’re also looking to connect with a person who they feel comfortable with.
Invest the time in making sure your profile is appealing to the kinds of clients you’re looking for. We encourage you to read our blog post: Tips for setting up your Mable profile for success
No. 4 You’re ready to get started, working for yourself!
Once your profile is complete and approved, you will receive a notification from Mable telling you that you can now start finding clients and providing support. It’s a good idea to spend some time looking over the Mable website too, to become familiar with the way we operate and communicate.
