What do respite care workers do?
Caring for a loved one can be very rewarding , but it can be physically and emotionally tiring as well. Respite care is an important service that helps you take a break and look after your own needs and health. Independent support workers on the Mable platform are available to provide respite services for an hour, several hours, overnight and even several days.
It’s up to you and your loved one what your support workers will do when they come to your home. They can ensure the regular routine is maintained including social engagements or therapy appointment. You may want them to just provide warm companionship. That could look like sitting and chatting with a cup of tea, playing word puzzles together or watching a movie. For a longer session, you might have them do a little light housework, prepare lunch or dinner or take your loved one for a walk around the garden.
Overnight stays are also available so that you can take some time out to travel and not have to worry about what time you return home.
How to find a support worker to provide respite care
Over 9,000 independent support workers have listed their profiles on the Mable platform. All you have to do is simply create a client profile and then you can search for someone in your local area who offers the services you’re looking for. Filter your searches by age, gender, interests, areas of experience, languages spoken and more or simply post a job with your requirements.
